Habeas Corpus

Habeas Corpus, meaning "you have the body" is a mindful reminder that you have a body!

Many important mindfulness practices involve directing attention to the body--and sustaining attention on the body. This can be helpful for, among other things, allowing us to access the informationally rich sources of input the body is continually feeing the brain.

It can also be a helpful recalibration of our tendency to get caught up in our "heads," lost in thoughts of past and future and engaging in reactive and counter-productive behavior and decision making.

When we engage in mindfulness practices that orient our attention to body sensations, we "come to our senses," overly rigid perceptions of self and other soften, and we can feel a greater sense of connection.
